Drug Testing

Should students involved in extracurricular activities be tested for drugs?

I stand strongly for testing students in extracurricular activities for drugs.  It’s for their safety, and it could some day save lives.  If they decide to participate in activities such as a sports team, it’s a privelage to be on the team.  They need to respect that and the privelage should be taken away if they don’t.  Danger would follow playing sports while on drugs, because it’s bad for your health and some drugs may make the players overly agressive.  This could get them into a fight and hurt not only them but the others involved in the fight.  If someone is taking drugs, someone who can help needs to be aware.  This ranges anywhere from parents to counselors to teachers.  Drug tests are a great way to protect the kids.
