OneWebDay
How has the web affected the way you live and work?
No American today has not had some sort of encounter with the web. Even children know how to operate the internet. I questioned my mom, dad, and uncle about life changes the web has made. Most of their answers were similar, so it must have made life easier in those categories. Communication has become so different, whether you use email or instant messaging. No more writing letters, stamps or mailing. With just the click of send, your message will be off. Research has drastically changed due to the internet. Search engines can save so much time. You don’t have to flip through encyclopedias with hundreds of pages anymore. Everyday tasks such as paying bills, searching for pets and jobs, and shopping have been revolutionized. Websites are dedicated to making these usually time-consuming tasks hassle free and speedy. Planning events such as vacations and going to the movies has become easier as well. You can simply type in an area code of a destination and have your answers. This can even get you directions to these locations. My dad uses the web for advertising as well. Many of his customers have found out about his business through the web. Without the web, of course we would survive. But after the improvements to our lives, does anyone really want to go back to life before the internet?
